The goal and role

TikTok Story is expected to reduce the pressure of posting content, and can lower the bar of creating videos, allowing everyone who can take photos with their phones to share content on TikTok. 

In this project, I developed the end-to-end design solutions based on user research, product strategy and data analysis. This feature was delivered in collaboration with and another product designer and cross-functional stakeholders(Product Managers, Engineers, Data analyst,  Lawyers, UX Researchers, and UX Writers .

User Scenarios

Users can share their daily life with their followers, it is relationship-centered and will disappear after 24 hours. Thus, the key characteristics of TikTok stories are:
- Ephemeral: disappear after 24 hours, capture the moment
- Authentic: record daily life, not carefully crafted
- Intimate: relationship-centered, share with who cares about you

Measurement & Evaluation: A/B test

Product decisions are not purely data-driven, but should be data-informed. We included A/B test to measure as much as we can to better inform the decision.
